DIRTY is a personal tribute to one of the most enigmatic, controversial and tragic figures in Hip-Hop music history, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, or just ODB for those in the know. As famous for his years with legendary Hip-Hop group the Wu-Tang Clan and his crazed, slurred, half-sung, half-rapped delivery of usually bizarre lyrics that seemed to encapsulate and personify the raw, unadulterated and innovative style of the group as he was for the years following a successful solo career that was fraught with legal troubles and an eventual tragic overdose. Featuring members of the Wu-Tang Clan, the Brooklyn Zu and many others, this film celebrates the life of a genius madman who lived life without any breaks.

An empowering documentary of a truly free individual stuck in a world that often sadly lacks freedom. This look into the life of a poet (thanks to Buddha Monk for pointing this out) was both inspiring and informative. The filmmakers did a wonderful job of presenting ODB as not only a musical icon, but as a true warrior who took care of his community and became a champion of free-speech by staying true to himself.
